What if I am not ready for a co-manufacturer?
The OFI offers small batch co-manufacturing, consulting, R&D and sourcing assistance.
But what if you are not ready for that yet?
Cottage License – contact your state government Helath Department or Department of Agriculture. Every state has a Cottage license option, where you can have your home kitchen licensed to make food products.
A local church or lodge – In most states, the kitchens in churches or lodges like the American Legion have commercial kitchen licenses and as these kitchens are often underutilized, they may allow you to rent the space for a small fee.
Shared kitchen spaces. Many OFI clients have found there start in the shared kitchen spaces around the area:
The Entrepreneur’s Space – Katherine Gregory has lead the Entrepreneur’s Space for many years. She is one of the most knowledgable and kindest people in the industry. This space in Queens is a great space to get started.
Garden State Kitchen – This fantastic space is run by Krishna Chetti, who has become a great friend of the OFI. This Incubator has a 10 year track record and is in Orange, NJ. It is a great option for New Jersey start-ups.
Union Kitchen – This accelerator has launched many of the brands that you see on shelves today. A great option in the D.C MEtro area.
